Stabilized Nitrogen Technology

NutrActive® is a technology tier applied across nitrogen, NP and NPK formulas, in which a nitrification inhibitor (DCD) is added to slow the natural microbial conversion of ammoniacal Nitrogen (NH4) into nitrate Nitrogen (NO3) in the soil. This keeps a larger share of the Nitrogen in ammoniacal form for longer, instead of it converting immediately into the more mobile nitrate form.

This mechanism extends Nitrogen availability by 8 to 12 weeks, depending on soil and temperature conditions, and raises the crop’s Nitrogen use efficiency from the usual 50–60% to around 80%.

Why slower nitrification means a more efficient fertilizer

Nitrate Nitrogen moves freely through the soil and is prone to leaching from rainfall or irrigation, as well as loss through denitrification in wet or compacted soils. Ammoniacal Nitrogen, by contrast, binds to soil particles and is far more stable.

By keeping Nitrogen in ammoniacal form for longer, NutrActive® reduces these losses and provides a steadier supply to the crop throughout the growing season, with fewer applications and without sharp swings in Nitrogen availability.
